At The Action Sports Translator – a specialized localization and content agency working exclusively with outdoor and action sports brands – we’re currently looking for a freelance copy & content project manager to join our fully remote team. You’ll work alongside experienced translation and content project managers, managing written copy and content production projects for some of the world’s leading outdoor and action sports brands. This role focuses on operational project management of copy production, not copywriting. You’ll be responsible for coordinating writers and editors, safeguarding quality and budgets, and owning projects end to end – from brief to final delivery.
We’re only considering candidates available and reachable during CET / GMT / EEST time zones. Hours will vary based on project load, but we’re aiming for a consistent weekly baseline to get started (around 5–10h/week during onboarding), with the potential to scale up significantly over time as the collaboration settles.
Manage the lifecycle of content and copy writing projects, from briefing to publication, ensuring timely delivery and quality of copy, including:
- Managing copy and content production projects end to end, from brief to final delivery.
- Large-scale ecommerce product copywriting projects (largely AI-assisted and SEO-driven).
- Marketing and conversion copywriting projects (ecommerce, campaigns, landing pages).
- Copywriting and editing projects such as sustainability reports, buying guides and other brand content.
- Coordinating writers, editors and reviewers across evolving project workflows.
- Preparing, maintaining and updating project briefs, tone-of-voice guidelines and reference materials.
- Tracking feedback rounds and ensuring revisions are implemented correctly, consistently and on time.
- Performing production-level QA on copy deliverables and making pragmatic last-minute copy fixes when required.
- Actively tracking delivery against budgets and scope, flagging scope creep, effort overruns or margin risks early.
- Flagging quality or strategic risks early and escalating when senior creative or conversion expertise is required.
- Collaborating closely with translation and localization project managers when content is rolled out across multiple markets.
- Acting as the main operational point of contact for clients on assigned projects, managing communication around scope, timelines, feedback and delivery.
This is a hands-on, operational PM role in a fast-moving environment with multiple stakeholders.
What we are looking for:
- English as a first language, with the ability to step in and make last-minute copy adjustments when required.
- Proven experience managing written copy and content production projects on the agency side.
- Strong operational project management mindset.
- Solid familiarity with ecommerce product copywriting workflows.
- Proven experience managing multiple writers and editors simultaneously.
- High attention to detail, paired with the ability to follow SOPs, processes and quality standards.
- Comfortable working with systems and processes, while also navigating fast-changing priorities.
- Confident performing copy QA and ensuring briefs, tone of voice and brand requirements are met.
- Strong communication skills and confidence managing client-facing communication.
- Ability to work quickly, stay organized and keep projects moving, both independently and as part of a team.
- First-hand experience and strong familiarity with outdoor or action sports.
Your work will contribute to helping outdoor and action sports brands get their multilingual content right. You will work closely with a like-minded team of content, copy and translation project managers and account managers in a dynamic and cooperative environment. We have frameworks and systems in place to collaborate remotely and enable you to work from wherever you want, be it a beach, the mountains, your house, or anywhere else that lies in the required time zones!
Working with the world’s best outdoor brands comes with perks. You’ll get significant discounts on the gear you actually use in the mountains and on the trails!
Important: this is a freelance position, not a full-time employment contract. We value authenticity. Please submit an application that reflects your real experience.
