Are you passionate about helping people stay warm, well and informed during the costâofâliving and energy crisis? We are recruiting a motivated and compassionate Energy Adviser to join our Advice Service.
In this rewarding role, you will provide highâquality, confidential and personâcentred energy advice to disabled people, carers, and families who may be experiencing fuel poverty or energyârelated hardship. You'll help people understand their bills, reduce energy costs, manage energy challenges and create warmer, healthier homes. Support will take place in the community, over the phone, and through inâhome visits.
We are looking for someone who is:
- Person centred, respectful and traumaâinformed, able to build trust and communicate clearly
- Confident and able to provide advice and followâup support
- Organised and digitally confident, with strong communication and recordâkeeping skills
- Committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and removing barriers for marginalised groups
- Able to work flexibly across different settings to meet people's needs
Experience of giving energy advice would be an advantage but donât worry if not, we will support you to complete City & Guilds Level 3 â Energy Awareness (if not already held). A full driving licence and access to a car (or ability to meet the role's travel requirements in another way) is needed.

- Disabled adults, disabled children and their families, many of whom experience multiple barriers to accessing mainstream services.
- Carers, including parent carers, who balance complex caring responsibilities with their own wellbeing and financial pressures.
- People facing disadvantage or exclusion, including those who struggle to access support due to disability, low income, communication barriers, limited confidence or previous negative experiences with services.
- People needing accessible advice, including those who require language support, easyâread communication, additional time, homeâbased support or flexible engagement methods to participate fully.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of householders vulnerable to fuel poverty by providing holistic, impartial and specialist energy efficiency, affordable warmth, renewable energy advice.
- Deliver tailored energy advice on tariffs, billing and options for managing fuel costs; provide clear explanations and guidance that people can act on.
- Support people experiencing issues such as fuel debt or payment difficulties to effectively manage their situations.
- Advise on the availability of crisis supports or discretionary funds where appropriate.
- Liaise with energy suppliers where needed to clarify issues and seek fair, affordable solutions.
- Conduct inâhome visits to assess energy needs, identify issues such as damp/ventilation and advise on energy efficiency measures and suitable improvements.
- Promote the service: delivering talks/workshops about energy topics and maintaining strong, clear referral pathways with internal colleagues and relevant external agencies.
- Maintain accurate case records on the case management system and comply with data protection requirements.
- Record outcomes and contribute to monitoring, reporting and continuous improvement.
- Maintain upâtoâdate knowledge of energy advice, fuel poverty and relevant schemes; complete or hold City & Guilds Level 3 Energy Awareness (or equivalent).
This is a regulated role and requires PVG Disclosure Scotland membership for adults and children. As part of our recruitment process, candidates who have lived outside the UK for more than 12 months in the last 10 years will be required to provide a Criminal Convictions Certificate (or equivalent) from the relevant country or countries. Please note that the cost of obtaining this certificate will be the responsibility of the candidate.
