Lead a dedicated team within our All in Edinburgh Supported Employment Service, ensuring service delivery, performance management, data analysis, and claim processing while maintaining strong organisational and people skills.

Location: The Action Group, The Prentice Centre, 1 Granton Mains Avenue, Edinburgh, Scotland

Base: Mix of office, home working and community-based

Line Manager: Development Manager

Salary: SP33‑35 £31,418.76 – £32,943.95 per annum

Hours: 39 per week

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership (50%): Define team objectives with Development Manager, Action Group Strategic Objectives, Business Plan and Consortium Delivery Manager. Lead by example, fostering a positive, empowering ethos and maintaining high morale. Ensure all targets and outcomes are met, including operational decisions affecting the whole team. Act as a 3‑way communication conduit among Senior Manager, team members and Consortium Delivery Manager. Manage consortium referral system and client access to the service. Administer financial and information management, including project and funding administration. Compile financial returns and respond to queries from internal and external parties.
  • Staff Management (45%): Collaborate with Development Manager on recruitment, induction and performance management. Conduct objective setting, appraisals, development planning and handle absence and capability issues. Delegate work fairly and transparently, matching tasks to team members’ strengths. Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring and timely performance feedback. Supervise all Employment Support staff, students and temporary team members. Act as temporary line manager when the direct role holder is absent.
  • Supporting Clients (5%): Perform a small element of direct client support, maintaining links with clients and providing on‑the‑job coaching. Assist in client assessments, training planning, financial advice and job placement.
  • Working with Clients: Facilitate employment opportunities through referral agencies and consortium sources. Conduct comprehensive vocational profiling, financial assessments and joint meetings with clients. Assist in job selection, training implementation, progress monitoring and client reporting. Coordinate with employers, carers and other agencies to support clients’ ongoing employment. Participate in multi‑professional service delivery and quality improvement reviews.
  • Working with Employers: Identify and negotiate paid jobs, ensuring fairness and compliance with national wage and employment standards. Provide employer presentations, exhibitions, seminars and disability awareness training. Conduct job analyses, maintain regular liaison and support client workplace integration. Deliver evaluation reviews as part of the Action Group and Consortium quality improvement strategy.
  • Working with Clients and Employers Together: Resolve workplace issues through negotiation with employers. Agree on pay rates and terms on behalf of clients. Adjust training strategies to meet client needs at the workplace.
  • General Duties: Align work with The Action Group mission, aims, objectives and business plan. Manage own time, paperwork and filing systems effectively. Communicate promptly, politely and clearly with staff, clients and external parties. Maintain confidentiality, comply with policies, health & safety and professional standards. Take responsibility for CPD and support the organization’s IIP standards. Balance work life, including taking annual leave at regular intervals.
