Reporting to the Mitigation Operational Team Leader, the Technical Mitigation Handler will proactively manage a caseload of technical mitigation claims, including personal injury (Non-Portal & MOJ), high risk/complex credit hire & property damage.
This individual will also monitor claims involving credit hire, ensuring all actions are taken to mitigate our exposure, including identifying cases where we can intervene and settle the third party’s claim direct to reduce overall hire duration.

37.5 hours, Monday to Friday from 9am to 5:30pm
Salary
Between £35,271 and £41,556 plus potential bonus of £2,000 per annum paid quarterly
What you will be doing
- Proactively manage a portfolio of high risk/complex mitigation claims, including credit hire, personal injury & property damage.
- Validate all claims for indemnity and fraud.
- Proactive and correct assessment of liability, including communication of our decision.
- Accurate quantum assessment of claims presented using the relevant tools available to assist.
- Application of accurate reserves in line with company guidelines.
- Act as a referral point and assist with coaching and mentoring of less experienced handlers.
- Identify opportunities to improve our strategies and work with the wider team to implement and measure strategic changes.
- Working with panel solicitors on litigated cases that are being handled on a non-delegated basis.
- Any other ad hoc task as the needs of the business dictate.
What we’re looking for
- Level 3 Mitigation Handler or similar in other departments.
- Significant credit hire and/or personal injury claims experience and extensive working knowledge of the Pre-Action Protocol, Civil Procedure Rules & costs.
- Persuasive, strong and confident communicator, and ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to use own initiative to explore all options to achieve the best outcome for the business.
- Commercial market awareness regarding credit hire and/or personal injury and all relevant case laws.
