As a Technical Claims Handler, you will proactively manage a caseload of technically complex and/or high value (multi track) PI claims. This will also include litigated claims, within the Haven Delegated Authority Agreement, referral process and reinsurance treaty requirements. You will also provide technical support and guidance to less experienced claims handlers and be available to offer training and act as a referral point.
Role: Technical Claims Handler
Location: Liverpool or Sevenoaks (Any applicant must be available to work Hybrid across one/two sites)
Working hours: 37.5 hours, Monday to Friday from 9am to 5:30pm
What you will be doing:
- A proactive management approach to handling your own portfolio with excellent diary management whilst maintaining own KPIs and SLAs.
- Handle claims within a defined handling authority.
- Proactive review of claims ensuring they are reserved in line with best practice and at the earliest opportunity and referring those highlighted as exceeding authority.
- Mitigate claims leakage and spend through proactive claims management.
- Drive and negotiate claims settlement at the earliest available opportunity.
- Understand the importance of the claims function in the wider business and assist in developing technical strategies and proactively contribute to deliver superior business results.
- An understanding of technical issues in the insurance industry and how they could impact our claims function.
- An understanding of when to utilise external providers, including barristers, panel solicitors, medical experts, adjusters, investigators and rehabilitation providers.
- Participate in training of less experienced claims handlers, and support with auditing.
- Assist with ad hoc tasks as business needs dictate.
What we’re looking for:
- Personal Injury claims handling experience.
- Ability to use own initiative to explore all options to achieve the best outcome for the business and take ownership of the same.
- Highly motivated self-starter requiring minimal supervision and capable of organising and prioritising work effectively.
- Excellent team player.
- An understanding of case law, statute, CPR and Pre-Action Protocols.
