In this role, you’ll support the day‑to‑day quality assurance activities for a customer‑facing motor insurance product, contributing to the development and improvement of automation across both web and mobile platforms. You will help shape and maintain the squad’s test automation approach, contribute to mobile automation practices, and work closely with senior team members to deliver high‑quality, timely updates across quote‑to‑buy journeys, mobile applications, and customer portal features.

What you will be doing:

  • Develop and maintain automated test suites using Playwright (web) following established framework standards.
  • Write reliable, maintainable automation scripts aligned with squad needs and wider QA guidelines.
  • Identify automation opportunities for quote, buy, and portal journeys in collaboration with Senior QA.
  • Execute automated tests within Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines and troubleshoot failures.
  • Contribute to API test automation for backend services and third-party integrations.
  • Execute mobile automation using Maestro, following established best practices, based on squad needs.
  • Test native mobile app functionality, including offline behaviour, push notifications, and device-specific scenarios.
  • Collaborate with Developers, Product Owners, and Business Analysts to ensure requirements are testable and understood.
  • Execute exploratory testing and risk-based testing for new features and complex changes.
  • Validate integrations with payment gateways, enrichment services, and external data providers.
  • Participate in process improvement, Udemy trainings, test case and automation code reviews.
  • Aim to become functional SME of the squad/Product group.
  • Contribute to QA community practices, knowledge sharing, and documentation.
  • Track and report quality metrics (defect leakage, automation coverage) with guidance from QA Lead/Tech Lead.
  • Actively participate in sprint ceremonies, providing QA input on estimation and planning.
  • Suggest process improvements within the squad.

What we are looking for:

  • Experience of Automated test suites e.g. Playwright (web).
  • Demonstrable knowledge of Azure DevOps CI/CD Pipelines.
  • Ability to work within cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in defining and tracking quality metrics.

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks
