Why Join Internal Audit at Acorn?

Internal Audit plays a vital role in providing independent assurance and insight across the Group. You’ll gain exposure to all aspects of our operations – from underwriting and claims to finance, compliance, and IT – developing a deep understanding of our business and how we manage risk in a regulated environment. You’ll work directly with experienced professionals from varied backgrounds and from different levels within the Group.

What you will be doing:

  • Audit Planning & Execution: Help the Head of Internal Audit with the delivery of the Internal Audit plan. Lead audits covering the key business activities of the Acorn Group, which includes Haven Insurance (based in Gibraltar) and the UK-based distribution entities such as Acorn Insurance and Financial Services, Granite Finance, MyPolicy Limited, etc. Evaluate adequacy of internal controls and risk mitigation strategies. Identify emerging risks in insurance operations and financial services.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence and monitor compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Reporting & Recommendations: Prepare clear, actionable audit reports for senior management and Audit Committee. Recommend improvements to processes, controls, and governance frameworks.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with business units to address audit findings and implement corrective actions. Act as a trusted advisor on risk and control matters. Attend and participate in Committees and Working Groups. Mentor audit staff, ensuring quality and consistency in audit work. Promote a culture of continuous improvement and ethical conduct.

We expect all colleagues to operate in a flexible manner to meet evolving business needs, to help drive to our Vision, fulfil our Mission, and abide by our Organisation’s Values.

Who We Are Looking For:

  • A 2:1 degree in any discipline – Accounting, Finance, Business or related fields preferred.
  • 2-3 years Post Qualifications Experience would be preferred.
  • Experience within Insurance or Financial Service would be advantageous.
  • Strong communication, analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Curiosity, resilience and a proactive approach to learning.
  • Excellent attention to detail and high ethical standards.

Above all, we are looking for someone who demonstrates professional curiosity with sound judgement, i.e. having an interest in how the business operates, asking thoughtful questions, and seeking to understand the “why” behind policies and processes. A blend of curiosity and professional judgement is especially vital in Internal Audit, where insight and influence are just as important as independence and control assessments.

Why Join Us?

  • Competitive Salary & Benefits: We offer a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package to ensure you feel valued and supported.
  • Professional Growth: We are committed to your professional development and offer opportunities for career advancement and continuous learning.
  • Collaborative Environment: Work in a supportive and inclusive environment where your ideas and contributions are valued.
