AAT Finance Assistant in Leeds

Job Description Finance Assistant | £32,000 - £36,000 | Harewood Growing SME based in Harewood is looking for an enthusiastic, diligent Finance Assistant to join their friendly and expanding finance team. You’ll be number 2 to the Financial Controller for the business – supporting with all areas of transactional finance for the group (AP, sales ledger and credit control, payroll and expenses, reconciliations, month end reporting etc) This is a genuinely varied, hands-on finance role where you'll have the opportunity to take ownership of a broad range of day-to-day accounting activities. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you'll play an important role in keeping the finance function running smoothly. Purchase Ledger Sales Ledger Monitoring outstanding debts Chasing overdue payments whilst building and maintaining excellent working relationships Maintaining accurate customer account records Banking & Cash Management Completing daily bank reconciliations Monitoring company credit cards and employee expenses Month-End & Management Accounts Supporting month-end journals and reconciliations Preparing balance sheet reconciliations Supporting the production of monthly management accounts Maintaining the fixed asset register where required Payroll & General Finance Supporting payroll administration and pension information Maintaining employee finance records Assisting with VAT returns and audit requirements Maintaining accurate electronic financial records Supporting the Finance Manager with ad hoc reporting and finance queries Providing cover for other members of the finance team when required Previous experience in a finance/accounts role Good understanding of double-entry bookkeeping Purchase and Sales ledger experience Strong Excel skills Experience using accounting software such as Sage, Xero, Quickbooks or similar AAT qualification or studies towards AAT would be advantageous, as would previous experience in an SME environment. This would suit someone who enjoys being involved across the finance function rather than being restricted to one area.
