We’re working with a growing, technology led SME (sub £5m turnover) who have a newly created role for a hands-on Company Accountant / Management Accountant / Finance Manager as a result of continued growth. This is a really varied position with lots of autonomy, reporting directly to a professional but approachable Finance Director.
You’ll have full responsibility for the end-to-end accounting and finance for the business, getting involved in everything from daily finance management to month end and producing management accounts. It’s a modern business with a friendly, relaxed culture. People are trusted to manage their own time and workload, so you will enjoy having ownership and flexibility rather than being micromanaged. The role is ideal for someone looking to join an SME environment where no one day is the same!
The finance processes are in good order and working well, but there’s plenty of opportunity for someone to put their own stamp on things by improving reporting, controls and ways of working as the business continues to grow. This could be an ideal role for a working parent or someone looking for reduced hours and flexibility.
The role is busy and rewarding, with plenty of variety, but the workload and deadlines are sensible. Work-life balance is genuinely important here and this isn’t a high-pressure or firefighting environment. You’ll be working with a hands-off but very supportive Finance Director who’s approachable, encouraging and always happy to bounce ideas around or help with anything technical if needed.
Overall, it’s a role where someone will genuinely feel valued, enjoy their work, make a real difference to the business, and still have a life outside of it.
You will need:
- Previous experience running the end-to-end accounting for an SME
- A hands-on approach — happy to roll your sleeves up and get into the detail
- Experience with Xero would be a big bonus
- Comfortable managing your own time and workload without close supervision
- Proactive, professional and enthusiastic attitude
