There’s a certain kind of tax professional who doesn’t just do the work - they walk clients through fire. You’ve been in the room when the letters drop. When the panic sets in. When a routine enquiry turns into something far more serious. You know what it means to be calm, clear, and credible - when your client’s business, reputation, or peace of mind depends on it. This Top 10 firm is looking for someone exactly like that. Not just a technician. Not just a manager. But a trusted expert who can lead complex investigations, advise internal teams, and build a national function from the inside out. This is not your average tax role. It’s a position of real visibility. You’ll work alongside Partners and senior leaders, supporting teams across the UK. One day you’ll be coaching junior staff through disclosure processes. The next, you’ll be advising on a multi-million-pound enquiry. You’ll become the internal go-to on risk - not just for clients, but for other advisers who know when they’re out of their depth. And most importantly, you’ll help shape how a national firm navigates tax complexity at scale.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading on complex tax investigations, enquiries, and disclosures - across corporate and personal tax
  • Acting as an internal adviser to Partners and teams handling sensitive or high-stakes matters
  • Working directly with HMRC to manage dialogue, defend positions, and resolve disputes
  • Mentoring more junior team members, helping them develop both confidence and technical skill
  • Playing a strategic role in how the firm manages risk, trains staff, and protects its clients

What you’ll need:

  • CTA qualified or HMRC-trained - with deep investigations and dispute experience
  • Comfortable handling COP8, COP9, nudge letters, voluntary disclosures, and complex casework
  • A natural communicator - able to balance empathy, credibility, and technical clarity under pressure
  • Someone who sees the bigger picture, not just the immediate file
  • A desire to lead - not just in title, but in presence, influence, and example

What’s in it for you:

  • Working directly with national tax leaders
  • Hybrid working and flexibility that respects your experience
  • Competitive salary + bonus + extensive benefits
  • National client exposure without the politics or bureaucracy
  • A team that values substance over show - and has your back when it matters
