About the role:
Under the supervision of the Financial Reporting Manager, the purpose of the role is to lead the Bank's financial reporting and statutory accounting activities. The job holder will lead and leverage a small team to deliver superior financial management services to the Bank focusing on accuracy and timeliness of outputs whilst ensuring a robust control environment is in place and issues are escalated in a proactive manner to ensure effective resolution. The Finance team works with all the departments within the Bank as well as the Executive Committee to provide financial, regulatory and management information for decision making that drives the Bank's overall business strategy. Working in the Finance team provides a well-rounded view of the Bank thus constantly providing challenges on how to provide timely and accurate information relevant for decision making.
Duties:
- Ensure the financial reporting activities of the Bank operate within an effective control environment and manage risk-related processes relevant to the team.
- Lead in delivering on-time activities concerning the Bank's month-end closing process and reporting to Access Bank Plc.
- Assist with the half-year and full-year group reporting packs, ensuring accuracy of output and adherence to review processes.
- Assist with the annual financial statements and ensure an effective and issue-free external audit.
- Prepare and review quarterly and annual VAT returns and oversee the review of the Bank's PESM on a periodic basis.
- Manage a horizon scanning and implementation process for developments in relevant developments affecting the Bank for accounting issues.
- Enhance and automate key processes as agreed with the Financial Controller.
- Enhance review processes by delivering additional analysis to support management review of key outputs.
- Collaborate with the Management Accountant to deliver management reporting to the Bank as necessary.
Person/Experience required:
- Fully ACCA qualified and 5+ years of relevant post-qualified experience
Key Skills:
- Strong understanding of IFRS standards
- Microsoft Office Systems Knowledge especially Excel and Word
- Processing & Procedural Knowledge
