Stockport is a town currently undergoing a massive economic transformation, with major urban regeneration projects turning it into a thriving hub for SMEs and digital startups within the Greater Manchester region. We are seeking an entrepreneurial and engaging Business Studies Teacher to join our faculty. This role involves teaching across Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5, where you will equip students with the analytical tools to understand how businesses operate, compete, and thrive in a volatile global market.

You will join a forward-thinking Social Sciences & Business faculty that prioritises "real-world" relevance, moving beyond textbooks to analyse live market trends and corporate case studies. The department is well-resourced with dedicated IT suites, digital subscriptions to financial news outlets, and interactive simulation software for enterprise management. We foster a strong culture of vocational and academic excellence, offering both traditional GCSE/A-Level pathways and BTEC Technical awards in Enterprise and Marketing. We benefit from strong links with the Stockport Chamber of Commerce and local entrepreneurs, providing students with mentorship opportunities and insights into the local business landscape.

Core Responsibilities

  • Delivering high-impact lessons across the four main functional areas of business: Marketing, Finance, Operations, and Human Resources.
  • Teaching students how to use financial tools—such as break-even analysis, cash flow forecasts, and balance exams—to assess the health of an organization.
  • Preparing Year 11 and Year 13 students for their final examinations, with a heavy focus on the "AO4" skill of making justified strategic recommendations based on data.
  • Analysing the impact of external influences on business, including PESTLE factors (Political, Economic, Social, Technological, Legal, and Environmental) and the effects of globalization.
  • Leading extracurricular initiatives such as the "Tycoon in Schools" competition, Young Enterprise, or investment clubs to help students develop their own "soft skills" and commercial awareness.

The Successful Candidate

We are looking for a specialist who can bridge the gap between classroom theory and the boardroom. Requirements include:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in Business Studies, Management, Economics, or a related field.
  • A proven ability to deliver both academic (A-Level) and vocational (BTEC/CTEC) specifications with rigor and enthusiasm.
  • Strong subject knowledge of current UK business law, digital marketing trends, and international trade dynamics.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to inspire students to think like future CEOs and entrepreneurs.
