About this Role
To help us to live out our mission, we are seeking to appoint an excellent Head of Design Technology who will lead and manage a thriving department of specialist and highly experienced practitioners who work exceptionally well as a team to deliver food technology, electronics, graphics and product design. The department is one of our most popular across the school and students enjoy the breadth and depth of their design technology curriculum which is reflected in the uptake of the subjects at Key Stage 4 in addition to A Level product design.

The Department has high academic standards for all students. Collectively, all staff are ambitious for everyone they teach and have a strong focus upon teaching and learning across all key stages. Of particular note is the success of the First Tech Challenge robotics group and the thriving STEM work that is carried out across the school in which the Design Technology department plays an integral role. The newly appointed Head of Department will need to demonstrate their own passion and enthusiasm for the discipline at all key stages as well as demonstrate highly effective curriculum leadership aptitude and qualities.
The Academy is committed to the safeguarding and welfare of children and young people and expects all of its employees to share this commitment. This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Amendment Order 1986 and, as such, it will be necessary for a Submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring.
