To undertake general scouting duties on behalf of the Academy Recruitment Department.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safeguarding and welfare of all elite players, maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Assist in populating the Academy\’s Pre-Academy and the Advanced Training Centre with potential players.
  • Complete match and player reports and any other necessary information for games covered via the Academy system.
  • Comply with the Scout\’s code of conduct and FA/EPPP rules and regulations.
  • Formally introduce targeted players to Blackburn Rovers Football Club in line with the Academy Code of Conduct for Scouts.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of all reporting documentation before submission to the Assistant Head of Academy Recruitment / Head of Academy Recruitment.
  • Develop and maintain key relationships within grassroots clubs, private coaching organisations, schools, districts, counties and international associations.
  • Help develop and maintain the local, regional and national scouting network.
  • Watch and report on Academy and grassroots games, school matches, private coaching sessions and international games as required.
  • Contribute to the identification of potential talent in accordance with the Academy football philosophy.
  • Recommend friendly fixtures for the Pre‑Academy, Foundation Phase and Youth Development Phase age groups.
  • Populate trialist fixtures when required.
  • Attend Academy Recruitment and Talent Identification meetings, training, and workshops as required.
  • Liaise with Senior Scouts, Assistant Head of Academy Recruitment / Head of Academy Recruitment to discuss findings.
  • Perform any other duties reasonably assigned or delegated by the Assistant Head of Academy Recruitment / Head of Academy Recruitment.
  • Maintain a comprehensive network of contacts within both the Academy system and at grassroots level.

Knowledge Required

  • In-depth knowledge of football activities within your designated area, including academies and grassroots.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and protocols.
  • Up‑to‑date knowledge of the standard of signed players at the Academy, reviewed at regular intervals.

Qualifications

  • FA Talent Identification Certificate.
  • FA Safeguarding Children Workshop.
  • I.T. literacy.
  • Good communication skills.
