We are now looking for a Chef to join our team at Hill House, Dunkeswell Road, Honiton, EX14 4UQ.
Role: Chef
Location: Hill House, Dunkeswell Road, Honiton, EX14 4UQ
Pay: £15.14 - £15.45 per hour
Hours: 40 hours per week over 4 days. Fixed Term contract for 6 months.
The Role of a Chef
- Develop, in consultation with residents, healthy balanced menus with choices that reflect their needs and preferences.
- Plan, prepare and cook residents’ meals from the agreed menu, accounting for personal preferences or recognised dietary requirements.
- Regularly seek feedback and monitor satisfaction with the menu and quality of food provided.
- Work alongside the Catering Manager and other team members to provide residents with healthy, delicious meals.
- Maintain effective stock rotation and control, managing catering costs within the agreed budget.
- Oversee safe and proper use of catering equipment.
- Champion kitchen cleaning procedures and schedules, ensuring the kitchen and store areas are clean and hygienic at all times, and complete all relevant food safety records.

About You
- Relevant Certificate in Food Hygiene and demonstrable experience cooking varied, healthy, safe meals for large groups on a regular basis.
- Ability to manage resources, planning rotas in advance to ensure continuity of the catering service.
- Methodical, highly organised; keep kitchen and equipment clean and tidy, with effective stock rotation.
Please note this role requires eligibility to work in the UK, two satisfactory employment references and an Enhanced DBS check. The cost of the DBS check will be met by Abbeyfield.
