We are now looking for a Cook to join our team at Pratt House. Pratt House is a 29‑bedded residential home, set in a quiet location in Amersham, offering support to our residents.

Role: Cook

Location: Pratt House, Quill Hall Lane, Amersham, HP6 6LU.

Pay: £13.35 - £13.64 per hour.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week. 09.30-18.00, including alternate weekend shifts.

The Role of a Cook:

  • Develop, in consultation with residents, healthy balanced menus, with choices which reflect their needs and preferences.
  • Plan, prepare and cook residents’ meals from the agreed menu, taking into account personal preferences or recognised dietary requirements.
  • Regularly seek feedback and monitor satisfaction with the menu and quality of the food provided.
  • Maintain a system of effective stock rotation and control to manage catering costs within the agreed budget.
  • Oversee safe and proper use of catering equipment.
  • Champion kitchen cleaning procedures and schedules to ensure cleanliness and hygiene at all times.
  • Oversee the completion of all relevant records in relation to food safety.

About You:

  • You’ll have a relevant Certificate in Food Hygiene.
  • A track record of demonstrable experience of cooking varied, healthy and safe meals to large groups on a regular basis.
  • Ability to manage resources and plan rotas in advance to ensure continuity of the catering service.
  • Be methodical and highly organised; maintain cleanliness and tidiness in the kitchen and equipment, with an effective method of stock rotation.

Please note this role will require eligibility to work in the UK, two satisfactory employment references and an Enhanced DBS check, the cost of which will be met by Abbeyfield. You may be asked to provide details regarding convictions; failure to disclose convictions may result in an offer of employment being revoked.
