Abbey Gate College invites an experienced and passionate Teacher of Physical Education (Male) to join our dedicated staff. The role will involve teaching GCSE and A Level Physical Education across Key Stages 4 and 6, leading boys’ sports teams, and organising and delivering a wide range of co‑cultural sporting activities and fixtures.
Key Responsibilities & Person Specification
- Teach Physical Education at GCSE (Key Stage 4) and A Level (Sixth Form)
- Lead boys’ sports teams and coordinate co‑cultural activities and fixtures
- Plan, deliver and assess lessons that encourage engagement, progress and examination success
- Create inclusive and positive learning environments that promote physical and mental wellbeing
- Collaborate closely with staff across Senior, Infant and Junior schools to share and develop cross‑curricular PE provision
- Use ICT and technology to enrich teaching, support learner assessment and share best practice
- Liaise with middle and senior management regarding attainment, behaviour and attendance
- Adhere to safeguarding and child‑protection procedures, completing enhanced DBS disclosure and online checks as required
Qualifications and Experience
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Degree in Physical Education or related subject
- Experience teaching Physical Education at both GCSE and A Level
- Proven track record of outstanding classroom practice and pupil progress
- Strong communication, organisational, interpersonal, and ICT skills
- Calm, supportive, and able to act as a positive role model for staff and pupils
- Experience in curriculum design or department initiatives (desirable)
- Competence in using digital platforms and online resources for Physical Education (desirable)
- Enthusiastic, caring, innovative and creative approach to teaching (desirable)
- Contribution to co‑cultural or enrichment Physical Education activities (desirable)
