Plenty of senior structural engineers in Manchester spend their week checking other people's models and chasing comments. The job you trained for, designing buildings and seeing them built, happens somewhere above you. This role puts it back in your hands.
You would be joining the Manchester studio of a multi-office civil and structural consultancy with a strong and growing northern workload. The practice works across residential, commercial, education, healthcare, industrial and logistics schemes, with digital modelling at the centre of how every project is delivered. The Manchester team is busy, well supported by the wider business, and needs a senior engineer who can take schemes from feasibility through to construction.
You will run your own projects, not fragments of someone else's. That means leading the structural design, coordinating directly with architects and clients, steering technicians, and bringing junior engineers on as you go. If you are chartered or closing in on it, you will find solid support for the final push, and a visible route towards principal level for those who want it.
The environment is collaborative rather than hierarchical. Directors stay close to the technical work, decisions get made quickly, and good ideas travel fast regardless of who raises them.
Salary: between £46,000 and £58,000, with a competitive package and hybrid working arrangements on top.
