Overview
We are continually looking for skilled drivers to join The AA's recovery driver team.

Salary and Target Earnings
Guaranteed minimum salary: £34,885 for a CE (HGV 1) licence, £31,405 for a C (HGV 2) licence. On Target Earnings: £41,000 for a CE licence, and £35,000 for a C licence.
Shifts and Flexibility
Rolling roster: work 18 days out of every 28, with two full weekends off.
Standard shift duration: 9 hours 45 minutes, including a 45‑minute break.
End‑of‑shift flexibility: you may be required to work up to 12 hours (including breaks) depending on operational needs.
Location
Depot postcode: DL6 2PJ. To be eligible you must live within 25 miles or 1 hour travel from the depot.
Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional service by safely recovering vehicles and reassuring customers during breakdowns, helping them get back on the road quickly.
- Work independently across varied locations and conditions while remaining a valued part of a supportive team.
- Solve problems on the spot, using technical skills and a calm approach to handle a wide range of roadside situations.
- Stay solution‑focused and compliant with EU Regulations and WTD, representing The AA with professionalism and a drive to always “Push for Better.”
Requirements
- A full Category C (HGV Class 2) driving licence is essential. If you already hold a Category CE (HGV Class 1) licence, great! If not, we’ll support you in gaining it.
- A valid Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) and a digital tachograph card.
- Confidence using and adapting to new technology – we’ll provide the tools; you bring the curiosity.
- Flexibility to work shift patterns, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
