Household Claims Handler
Location: Tunbridge Wells hybris (3 days per week in the office)
Employment Type: Full time permanent
Salary: Up to 30k depending on experience
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday‑Friday
About the Role
We’re looking for a Household Claims Handler with a passion for delivering outstanding customer service and a drive to become an expert in Escape of Water claims. In this role you will manage your own portfolio of household claims, taking full ownership from start to finish. You’ll work across multiple perils and may be part of a peril‑specific team. This is a customer‑facing position that rewards those who thrive on helping people and providing a reassuring voice during challenging times.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing Claims: Handle a portfolio of household insurance claims, including speciality perils such as Escape of Water, and see them through to resolution.
- Delivering Great Service: Keep customers informed at every step, ensuring claims are settled promptly, fairly, and in line with service level agreements.
- Working with Our Supply Chain: Liaise with suppliers and partners to keep the claims process smooth and efficient.
- Handling Complaints Professionally: Record customer concerns accurately and manage them in line with complaint procedures.
- Assessing Claims Accurately: Record claim details carefully, check policy cover, and advise customers clearly about coverage limits.
- Putting Customers First: Treat every customer fairly and deliver world‑class service, guided by industry standards and company values.
- Driving Improvements: Support team projects focused on cost, service, and process efficiency and participate in wider departmental initiatives.
Requirements
- Solid experience handling household property claims, ideally 2+ years.
- Familiarity with buildings and contents claims is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Sharp attention to detail.
- Effective time management and organisational abilities.
