This is the job
We're looking for a Cloud Engineer to join our Azure Cloud team and play a key role in the design, implementation and optimisation of our cloud infrastructure. Working within a complex enterprise environment, you'll help deliver scalable, secure and resilient cloud solutions that support critical business services across The AA. As we continue our cloud transformation journey, you'll be involved in major migration and modernisation initiatives, helping move services from on premises environments into Azure while driving automation, operational excellence and platform improvement. This is an opportunity to work on high profile technology programmes, influence technical decisions and contribute to the evolution of our cloud platform.
Working closely with Cloud Delivery Lead, Engineers, Development teams and Technology stakeholders, you'll help ensure our cloud services remain reliable, cost effective and aligned to business needs, while championing best practice across cloud engineering, security and DevOps.
What will I be doing?
- Designing, implementing and supporting Azure based cloud solutions across infrastructure, platform and software services.
- Delivering cloud migration and modernisation initiatives, helping move workloads from on premises environments into Azure.
- Developing and maintaining Infrastructure as Code using tools such as Terraform, Bicep or ARM templates.
- Monitoring, optimising and enhancing cloud performance, availability, security and cost efficiency across the estate.
- Supporting DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines and cloud native application deployments in partnership with development teams.
- Troubleshooting complex technical issues, driving service improvements and sharing knowledge with colleagues and offshore teams.
What do I need?
- Strong hands‑on experience designing, building and supporting Azure cloud solutions within a complex enterprise environment.
- Proven experience delivering cloud migration and modernisation initiatives, including transitioning services and infrastructure from on premises environments into Azure.
- Deep understanding of Azure services, cloud architecture principles and engineering best practice, with the ability to make sound technical decisions and solve complex challenges.
- Experience developing and maintaining Infrastructure as Code, automation and deployment pipelines using tools such as Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates, PowerShell or similar technologies.
- Strong knowledge of cloud security, resilience, monitoring and operational support, with a focus on delivering reliable, scalable and cost‑effective services.
- Excellent collaboration and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering, delivery and business teams while supporting and sharing knowledge with colleagues.
