Join our dedicated recovery team at our leading private clinic on Harley Street, where we deliver high-quality post-anaesthetic care for patients undergoing elective procedures, with a particular focus on plastic and cosmetic surgery. Based at 15 Harley Street, we combine clinical excellence with genuine care in modern, purpose-built facilities. We work exclusively with the best surgeons and anaesthetists in their fields, and we're committed to going beyond compliance to set higher standards in patient safety and care.

THE ROLE

You will provide expert post-anaesthetic nursing care, monitoring patients as they recover from surgery and ensuring their safety, comfort, and dignity throughout. This is a vital role where your clinical skills, vigilance, and compassionate approach make all the difference to patient outcomes and experience. Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive patients from theatre and continuously monitor vital signs, airway, breathing, circulation, and consciousness levels
  • Assess and manage post-operative pain using appropriate analgesia protocols
  • Identify and respond promptly to post-anaesthetic complications (respiratory, cardiovascular, pain, PONV)
  • Monitor surgical sites and maintain accurate fluid balance and documentation
  • Provide reassurance and communication to patients during recovery
  • Determine patient readiness for discharge using appropriate criteria
  • Respond effectively to medical emergencies and escalate appropriately
  • Maintain recovery equipment, contribute to audits, and uphold infection control standards
  • Act as patient advocate, ensuring safety and dignity at all times

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Essential:

  • Registered Nurse (Adult) with current valid NMC registration
  • Post-registration experience in recovery/post-anaesthetic care or critical care environment
  • Minimum 2 years post-qualification experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of post-anaesthetic complications and their management
  • Competent in airway management and use of monitoring equipment
  • Strong pain assessment and management skills
  • Current BLS or ILS certification
  • Excellent clinical assessment and decision-making abilities
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work calmly under pressure
  • Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain)
  • Right to work in the UK

Desirable:

  • Post-registration qualification in post-anaesthetic care or critical care
  • Experience in plastic/cosmetic surgery recovery
  • Experience in independent healthcare sector
  • ALS (Advanced Life Support) certification
  • Knowledge of CQC standards and best practice
