The 1922 Clothing Company is an established short lead supplier to the UK high street and online retailers, specializing in menswear and boyswear shirts and jersey from classic to high fashion designs.
The candidate will have the opportunity to grow and develop skills within a secure company whilst working in a modern and well-equipped office space. The office is a multi-cultural and friendly environment with a great team feeling.
We are looking for an enthusiastic menswear designer to work on shirt products with the opportunity to work on jersey. We seek someone with a strong eye for interpreting fashion trends and designing to suit our customer base. You will design and contribute to the constant development and co-ordination of new product ranges, to satisfy market key trends and customer needs, offering innovation and fresh approaches to design.
Main Responsibilities:- Design of current Men's fashion ranges to present to clients.
- Identify and understand clients' brand identity and handwriting when designing and range building.
- Put together Design, Mood, Colour and Trend Boards.
- Stay up to date with the latest trends and understand which trends are relevant for your accounts.
- Sourcing of fabric and trims - attending fabric shows and liaising with mills.
- Produce detailed technical packs for accurate first-time samples.
- Carry out trend research by researching online and shop visits.
- Liaise with factories and mills.
- Build strong relationships with buyers and designers.
- Review best sellers and gaps we can offer the retailers.
- Ensure development is actioned and received in time for customer sign-offs.
- Design in-house ranges to offer customers.
- Prep and run design meetings with retailers – ensuring product is in line with retailer trends.
- Previous experience designing menswear shirts/jersey (ideally for a supplier) - minimum 2 years.
- Additional experience in other product areas would be advantageous.
- Some experience working on graphics is desired.
- Good understanding of fabrics and experience in fabric development.
- Good understanding of commercial fashion.
- Good time management skills to meet deadlines.
- Good understanding of garment construction.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work on own initiative.
- An excellent communicator and someone who is comfortable working with colleagues and customers at all levels, including customers and factories and mills based in Turkey.
- Highly organised, efficient and able to work to tight deadlines.
- Self-motivated.
- Strong CAD skills (Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop).
Pay: £30,000.00 - £34,000.00 per year
