About The Role

If you’re an experienced Engineering Manager who enjoys being close to the action, solving problems on the shop floor, developing a small but capable team, and making sure everything runs as it should, this could be the role for you. Here at Cambridge Nutritional Foods, you’ll take ownership of engineering and facilities across a busy food manufacturing site, specialising in turning evidence‑led science into trusted nutrition brands, balancing hands‑on support with planning, coordination, and continuous improvement. You’ll lead a close‑knit engineering team of 3, working collaboratively with Production, Technical, and Hygiene teams to keep the site running safely and efficiently.

Location: Corby, Northants

Hours: Monday‑Friday 08:30‑16:30, with flexibility to cover out of hours work as required incl weekends

Role Type: Permanent, full time

What will I be doing?

You’ll split your time between supporting the team on the ground and coordinating the wider engineering function. With up to 70% of your time focused on planning, coordinating and improvement activity, with the remainder being spent hands‑on, support the team and troubleshooting issues.

  • Leading and supporting a small engineering team (Supervisor + 2 Engineers) to deliver effective maintenance and fast response to breakdowns
  • Keeping production running efficiently across key equipment including bar extrusion lines, powder packing lines, metal detectors and checkweighers
  • Reviewing and improving the PPM schedule to ensure its fit for purpose and reduces downtime
  • Using the CMMS to plan, track and improve maintenance activity
  • Working closely with Production and Technical teams to improve line efficiency and resolve recurring issues
  • Managing projects, which could include new equipment installation and commissioning
  • Coordinating contractors on site, from planning and RAMS review through to completion of works
  • Taking ownership of facilities and compliance activities, including the likes of legionella, asbestos monitoring and site infrastructure
  • Managing GMP actions and site improvements, prioritising and organising multiple small works across the factory
  • Ensuring all engineering and facilities activities meet food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards

Am I the right person for this job?

You’ll bring experience of multi‑skilled engineering management from a food manufacturing environment, ideally with a mechanical bias but with experience in electrical. You’ll combine strong technical ability with practical leadership skills and enjoy working in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

  • Experience in a food manufacturing or similar environment
  • Strong mechanical and electrical fault‑finding skills
  • Experience managing or supporting a small engineering team
  • Working knowledge of CMMS systems (e.g. Shire)
  • Experience with maintenance planning and PPM scheduling
  • Familiarity with food safety standards and HACCP principles
  • Experience managing contractors, RAMS, and permit‑to‑work systems
  • A practical, hands‑on approach with the ability to prioritise and organise effectively
  • Food Safety Level 3 is desirable but not essential.
