The Laboratory Technician role provides a unique opportunity to work within our quality assurance team, a dedicated team of cider experts who are, developing and innovating, testing quality and ensuring the highest standards of our products. Always striving for perfection. This role will involve varying shift patterns including earlies, lates and nights so flexibility is a must.

Since 1904, Thatchers has been crafting some of the world’s best cider. Now in our fifth generation of family cider makers, we take pride in our Somerset roots. We’ve grown a lot, thanks to big investments in marketing, people development, innovative tech, and our world-class cider mill. But guess what? We’re just getting started.
What will I be doing?
Overall Purpose
As the Quality Assurance Laboratory Technician, you will support the production teams in their analytical testing using a combination of in line, at line and laboratory-based equipment and assist the organisation of the organoleptic panel.
There are also opportunities within the role to learn about and contribute to each aspect of the cider making process including the development of new products, processes and packaging formats.
The role will also involve
- Maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment
- Working to improve standards within and outside the laboratory
- Maintenance of quality and safety records
- Provision of expert technical support
- Analyse data and prepare reports
- Assist with the development and implementation of quality assurance protocols

What skills do I need?
- Have a background in Chemistry, Biology or a related subject
- Have experience working in any laboratory environment
Other Desired Skills And/or Experience
- Knowledge of food safety systems
- Knowledge of COSHH
- Knowledge of HACCP
- Experience working within a in a food/beverage laboratory
