Thatcher Associates are currently working with an established and highly regarded Building Contractor who are looking to identify a driven and experienced Senior Site Manager/Site Manager to join their team. Initially, you can expect to be part of a management team on a project in excess of £10 million in value, reporting into a Contracts Manager/Regional Manager.
The Role
Typically, projects are predominantly new builds and some refurbishment projects with a focus on the education, extra care, commercial, residential, blue light, and healthcare sectors up to £20 million in value. Projects managed by this office tend to be focused in the Dorset and Devon areas.
Responsibilities
- Planning and estimating for budgets and timescales;
- Contribute to work planning, and brief project teams, contractors and suppliers;
- Passing any extra work to be done within set timescales;
- Supply information to resolve disputes if they arise;
- Identify areas of concern and find solutions for existing contracting processes;
- Overseeing health and safety is being implemented to appropriate standards;
- Manage the on-site management team and oversee sub-contractors.
Skills
- You will have demonstrable experience leading and motivating a multi-skilled trades team;
- Able to think outside the box and react quickly to issues that need resolving;
- A good organisational skill set;
- Being able to deliver quality to timescales required;
- A good knowledge and understanding of construction and issues such as building regulations and planning;
- Commercial awareness and an ability to establish and maintain good working relationships;
- Ability to work both on your own and as part of a team;
- A culture of continuous improvement to support.
Essential Requirements
- SMSTS;
- CSCS CARD;
- First Aid Card;
- HNC/HND or construction degree or equivalent qualification or other recognised construction qualifications;
- Ideally currently working for a large building contractor looking to work for an established regional building contractor and looking to make a move into an environment where you can quickly progress your career;
- Proven experience working on projects of at least £5 million in value as a Site Manager;
- Exposure to new build projects and multi-storey schemes.
