We are assisting in the search for an experienced Senior Commercial Manager to join a major construction project in Gloucestershire area. Working on a large-scale, complex development, you will play a pivotal role in the commercial leadership of the project, managing a large team, ensuring robust financial management, contractual compliance, risk mitigation, and commercial performance from inception through to final account.

This position would suit a commercially astute professional with experience delivering major projects and leading commercial teams within a fast-paced construction environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide commercial leadership across the project lifecycle
  • Manage project budgets, forecasting, cost reporting, and financial performance
  • Lead the procurement and management of subcontractor packages
  • Oversee contract administration and ensure compliance with contractual obligations
  • Identify, manage, and mitigate commercial risks and opportunities
  • Lead change management, variations, and compensation event processes
  • Manage and mentor commercial team members
  • Support project leadership with strategic commercial advice and decision-making
  • Drive value engineering and cost optimisation initiatives
  • Negotiate and agree final accounts with clients and supply chain partners
The Ideal Candidate:
  • Previous experience as a Senior Commercial Manager, Commercial Manager, Senior Quantity Surveyor, or Commercial Lead
  • Proven track record delivering major construction or infrastructure projects
  • Strong knowledge of NEC, JCT, or other standard forms of contract
  • Experience managing large subcontractor packages and complex supply chains
  • Excellent commercial, contractual, and negotiation skills
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management capabilities
  • Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management, or a related discipline
