An existing opportunity has arisen for an experienced Design Manager to join a major construction project currently entering a critical phase of delivery in Gloucestershire.

Working as part of a high-performing project team, you will be responsible for managing the design process from pre-construction through to project completion, ensuring technical excellence, programme certainty, and successful stakeholder coordination throughout the project lifecycle.

This role would suit an ambitious Design Manager seeking exposure to a large, complex scheme with significant technical, logistical, and stakeholder challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

β€’ Manage and coordinate the design process from pre-construction through delivery

β€’ Lead design team meetings and drive design programme performance

β€’ Coordinate consultants, specialist designers, subcontractors, and project stakeholders

β€’ Ensure design information is delivered in line with programme requirements

β€’ Review design solutions for buildability, compliance, quality, and cost effectiveness

β€’ Identify design risks and develop mitigation strategies

β€’ Support procurement activities and technical package reviews

β€’ Manage design approvals and statutory authority interfaces

β€’ Drive value engineering and continuous improvement initiatives

β€’ Ensure seamless integration between design, commercial, and construction teams

The Ideal Candidate:

β€’ Previous experience as a Design Manager, Senior Design Manager, Design Coordinator, or Technical Manager within the construction industry

β€’ Experience delivering large-scale construction projects

β€’ Strong understanding of design management processes throughout the project lifecycle

β€’ Ability to manage multidisciplinary consultant teams

β€’ Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

β€’ Strong knowledge of planning, building regulations, and construction methodologies

β€’ Degree-qualified in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred
