About the Opportunity
We are recruiting on behalf of a large, multi-site education organisation seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead and manage capital projects and maintenance schemes across multiple locations across the UK. This is an excellent opportunity for a construction or estates professional to take on a strategic role managing diverse projects from initiation through to completion, working autonomously while collaborating with senior stakeholders across the organisation.
The Role
As Project Manager, you'll be responsible for delivering a portfolio of construction, refurbishment, and maintenance projects across educational facilities nationwide. You'll manage schemes of varying sizes and complexity, either directly or through professional teams, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and with minimal disruption to operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage schemes from initiation through development, procurement, and completion
- Develop comprehensive project plans and resource allocations
- Procure technical resources and contractors in accordance with current procurement regulations
- Ensure all stakeholders remain consulted, engaged, and updated throughout projects
- Effectively manage, mitigate, and communicate risks and issues
- Coordinate and monitor project activities to maintain quality standards
- Communicate project status, progress, risks, and issues to relevant audiences
- Provide guidance and mentoring to the estates team
- Implement project management methodologies, dashboards, and tools
- Conduct post-project evaluations and apply lessons learned
- Manage programmes of works delivered over extended periods
Essential Requirements
- Proven project management experience in construction, estates, or related industries
- Strong understanding of project management principles and methodologies
- Sound procurement experience and understanding of current regulations
- Good technical knowledge of construction activities and practices
- Understanding of sustainability issues and green building solutions
- Experience working in live operational environments with minimal disruption
- Strong stakeholder management experience across multiple sites
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal)
- Proficient in project management software, Microsoft Excel, and Office 365
- Experience with budgeting and resource management
- Capacity to work under pressure and handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong leadership skills to influence and engage teams
- Full driving license essential
