We are seeking a professional and proactive qualified Family and Matrimonial Law Practitioner to support our busy Family Department. The ideal candidate will have a strong family law background with experience working a full and varied, independent caseload. We do not hold a legal aid contract, and so all work will be of a private fee nature for someone to work and grow in a varied role encompassing full service matrimonial and family law work. This role is ideal for a Family and Matrimonial Law Solicitor or CILEx with Litigation Rights, who wishes to work in a busy Somerset firm and carve out their own role. The work spans childcare, financial matters, and matrimonial cases, with clients now coming from a wider area including Bath, Bristol, Wells, and rural high net worth communities.
We are looking for someone who is motivated, experienced and seeking to take a leading role in our Family department and we are keen to hear from candidates with their career development plan as early as interview stage, if career growth and development is an aspiration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Face to face consultations.
- Running your own case files end to end.
- Occasional advocacy work.
- Providing free initial advice to enquiries.
- Taking your own initiative to grow the department with assistance from our marketing team where required.
- Use of case management software, BigHand, and Microsoft office packages.
What We’re Looking For:
- 3+ years PQE in family law is desirable (though we will consider less for the right candidate).
- A team player who works well in a team and on their own.
- A confident communicator who is able to manage their own workload independently.
