Thanet District Council is looking for a Service Administrator to join our Building Control team. This is a specialised and vital role designed to support the implementation and management of the Building Safety Levy (BSL)—a high-profile national initiative that ensures the safety of our built environment.
The Role
- Working closely with the Senior Service Administrator, you will be the primary point of contact for the administrative lifecycle of the Building Safety Levy.
- You won't just be processing paperwork; you will be determining levy chargeability, managing revenue, and providing expert guidance to developers and consultants in a fast-paced, commercial environment.
Your Impact
- Levy Expert: Lead the end-to-end BSL process, from determining liability and issuing determination notices to receiving payments and issuing certificates.
- Customer Champion: Provide high-quality, professional advice to the public and developers regarding fees, application types, and exemptions.
- Financial Integrity: Oversee invoice issuance, monitor debt recovery, and coordinate quarterly revenue transfers to the MHCLG.
- Continuous Improvement: Attend national engagement sessions to stay ahead of best practices and help the Council navigate legislative changes.
- Team Support: Provide essential technical and administrative support to our Case Officers to ensure the entire department runs like clockwork.
What You Bring
- You will have a high standard of general education (minimum 5 GCSEs) and proven experience in a busy administrative or commercial setting.
- You will be highly confident using Google Suite and Windows-based data management systems.
- You should be organised, meet tight deadlines, and are comfortable handling sensitive financial data.
- You must be able to translate complex regulations into clear guidance for stakeholders, remaining professional and courteous at all times.
- While Building Control experience is a plus, we are happy to provide training for a candidate eager to gain new qualifications in this field.
