Overview

We are looking for two new HR Advisors to join our team and help deliver a fantastic HR service to our managers and the wider organisation. One role will be to support our Cleansing Services Team at our Manston Road depot and the other will support the rest of the council. Although not essential we would welcome applications with experience in working with a manual workforce or in the public sector (depending on the role you are applying for). We are looking for individuals with some experience in HR advising, reducing sickness absence levels, building relationships quickly and who can handle a busy workload in an ever changing environment. If this sounds like you then we would love to hear from you. Please clearly confirm on your application form which support area you are applying for or your preference if you would consider either.

The role & our team

The role of our HR Advisors is varied and fast paced which requires an adaptable person who can support managers on all aspects of employee relations matters whilst offering pragmatic advice and solutions tailored to the business needs of each department. The council operates a wide range of services and our managers all have different challenges and priorities, which keeps the role interesting!

We are looking for individuals who are assertive and able to influence and make a difference. We encourage a coaching approach with our managers and colleagues to help empower them to make decisions and to increase their confidence and effectiveness to deal with tricky situations. In addition we look to share helpful resources and practical solutions through the use of research, management tools and people data.

A typical day could be a mix of virtual meetings, or onsite at the main council offices and/or satellite sites, phone calls, catching up with the team and emailing advice and support materials, so the ability to build rapport across all these channels is paramount. There will also be opportunities for you to support with policy and procedure writing, as well as the chance to get involved in other exciting people projects. Collaborating and sharing ideas is at the core of how we continue to deliver our key service. As a small team, the importance of supporting one another with work challenges, using your experience to offer guidance and getting together for CPD sessions and team meetings is how we keep evolving. There\’\’s so much to get involved in, to learn and grow your talent and expertise. We\’\’re proud to work within a great nurturing environment that supports your learning and development. Flexibility is something we really value as an organisation to help accommodate our employees as much as we can. The team enjoy the benefits of hybrid working.
