We currently have an opportunity for an experienced instrumentation, control & automation (ICA) technician to join our Wastewater team to be based out of Greenwich Storm – SE10 8JL.
Responsibilities
- Working with multi‑disciplinary teams, alongside a range of operational teams such as systems, mechanical and electrical technicians.
- Installing, modifying and commissioning new plant equipment to relevant standards.
- Diagnosing and repairing faults on systems and plants.
- Proactively identifying, reporting and following up on works for enhancement and delivering cost‑effective improvements to assets and systems.
- Maintaining instrumentation, control and automation on a variety of wastewater assets, including planned and defect maintenance.
- Recording work and asset information to improve business performance, identifying possible future risks and recommending changes as necessary.
- Providing specialist technical advice and coaching, training and developing staff under supervision, including the apprenticeship programme.
- Delivering an excellent customer experience and positively contributing to overall customer satisfaction through professional and respectful interaction with internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
- HNC level or NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) in instrumentation, control and automation.
- Preferably a qualification in the 18th Edition (BS7671).
- Good practical understanding of operational plant and control systems.
- Knowledge of Wonderware and Clear SCADA is desirable.
- Experience working with relay logic and PLCs (Rockwell & Alan Bradley) including management and programming.
- Ability to read and fault‑find from circuit diagrams and experience with inverter drives.
- Experience in calibration and maintenance of front‑line instrumentation.
- Problem‑solving skills, able to identify potential issues and implement solutions or appropriately raise issues.
- Excellent communication skills, able to provide technical expertise to internal and external staff and contractors.
- Resilience, adaptability to pressures of work and a constantly changing environment.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision, taking initiative to design and meet standards.
- Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues relevant to the industry.
- Team player, respectful of others and supportive of colleague development.
- Full UK driving licence.
Working Hours and Benefits
- Working Hours: 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday 7:30 am – 3:36 pm, with standby rota payments and overtime opportunities which may increase earnings by up to an additional £8,000‑£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential training.
- Salary: Up to £47,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience, plus a company van, tools, and PPE.
- Annual leave: 24 days per year, increasing to 28 days with length of service (plus bank holidays).
