What you’ll be doing as a Construction Assurance Engineer

You’ll play an integral role in construction assurance across wastewater projects, working collaboratively with project teams and contractors to support safe, compliant and successful delivery. Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting design and delivery assurance activities, helping to identify risks and working constructively with stakeholders to resolve them.

  • Monitoring construction progress, reporting on performance, and supporting issue resolution and escalation when needed.
  • Identifying, managing and closing non‑conformances in line with agreed processes.
  • Managing snags and supporting defect resolution, aftercare and performance testing post‑takeover.
  • Monitoring, agreeing and approving takeover testing with the wider project team.
  • Ensuring project documentation is complete, accurate and meets Thames Water specifications.
  • Working as a valued member of one or more project teams, building strong relationships with contractors and operational colleagues.

This is a hybrid role, with regular site presence across the Thames Valley. On site 3–4 days per week. 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday. A full UK driving licence and access to a car are required. A £4,500 annual car allowance is provided. We recognise the importance of balancing work and life commitments and offer flexibility wherever possible.

If you have many — but not necessarily all — of the following, we encourage you to apply:

  • An HNC (or above) in an engineering discipline, or equivalent experience in a similar construction or assurance role.
  • An awareness of health and safety in construction environments. (SMSTS training can be supported if you don’t currently hold it)
  • Experience or understanding of design, construction and operational delivery within utilities, infrastructure or construction settings.
  • Background in project delivery or integration within a construction environment.
  • Confidence communicating with stakeholders, with the ability to collaborate, challenge constructively and build trust.
