We’re seeking a Senior Technical Assurance Engineer to provide technical authority across major wastewater projects within Thames Waters AMP investment programme. You’ll work at the heart of complex, high-value schemes strengthening resilience, improving environmental outcomes, and ensuring essential infrastructure is safe, sustainable and built to last.
With projects valued between 30m and 200m+, spanning feasibility through to delivery and handover, this role offers real scale, professional challenge and the opportunity to leave a meaningful engineering legacy.
What you’ll be doing:
- Lead technical assurance across major capital projects, ensuring delivery to time, cost and quality.
- Shape engineering solutions that balance innovation, resilience and value for money.
- Champion a strong health, safety and wellbeing culture, supporting Thames Waters Triple Zero ambition.
- Collaborate closely with contractors, consultants and internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with technical, environmental and regulatory standards.
- Ensure solutions meet the Project Brief, stakeholder requirements and deliver best Whole Life Cost.
- Work within a collaborative environment across engineering, commercial and delivery disciplines, engaging with a wide and diverse supply chain.
Hybrid working based at Clearwater Court - Reading, with travel to other sites. 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Minimum 3 days on site per week. Full-time and part-time hours are considered, supporting flexible and inclusive working.
What you should bring to the role:
- A degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. We welcome candidates from the water sector and those with strong transferable skills from other regulated infrastructure environments.
- A strong commitment to Health, Safety and wellbeing.
- Proven experience in a technical leadership or assurance role, contributing to complex major projects across the full lifecycle.
- Deep technical expertise within your discipline, with experience working across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Strong commercial awareness and a practical understanding of engineering and delivery contracts.
- A collaborative mindset aligned to Thames Waters Values.
- Resilience, tenacity and motivation to safely deliver outcomes in pressured, high-profile environments.
