We are seeking an experienced Electrical Technician to be based at our Sewage Treatment Works site in Newbury. As the successful candidate, you will be using your electrical knowledge as well as your experience to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair as appropriate, mechanical plant and associated electrical equipment, in a safe, efficient, timely and effective manner with minimum supervision allowing us to ensure that all of our sites remain operational for the benefit of our customers.
What you’ll be doing as the Electrical Technician:
- Ensuring the health, safety and wellbeing of yourself, colleagues, contractors, and visitors by always displaying the correct behaviours, complying with the Health and Safety at work regulations and Thames Water’s Health and Safety guidelines.
- Undertaking both reactive and planned maintenance, responding to alarms and fault finding to identify issues, fix these or escalate, planned maintenance of plant and equipment on a daily basis, installing new plant and equipment as required in line with current Standards and Regulations.
- Record work and asset information to improve business performance along with identifying possible future risks and recommending changes in the course of your day-to-day work and to raise these for resolution as required.
- Provide specialist technical advice where appropriate with up-to-date technical knowledge along with coaching, training and developing staff under your supervision, including the apprenticeship programme.
- You will be required to travel across multiple sites in the Thames Valley area.
38 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 7:30 am - 3:36 pm plus Standby rota payments & Overtime opportunities can increase the earning potential by up to a further £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training. All PPE, Tools plus the provision of a Van when on duty and on call.
You should be a time-served apprentice with significant experience in mechanical / electrical systems or with NVQ or C&G level 3 in electrical engineering. 18th Edition preferred but training can be given. An excellent communicator, providing technical expertise to Internal and External staff and contractors. Ability to work with minimum supervision, under own initiative to design and standards. Full UK driving licence.
Offering a salary up to £42,000 per annum depending on skills and experience plus Standby rota payments & Overtime opportunities can increase the earning potential by up to a further £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training.
Annual Leave: 24 days holiday per year, increasing to 28 with the length of service (plus bank holidays).
