Senior Electrical Authorising Engineer

What you’ll be doing:

• Support electrical safety awareness and culture across Thames Water.
• Act as Company Electrical Authorising Engineer, undertaking assessment, appointment, and audit of those undertaking electrical work.
• Periodic auditing of high voltage installations.
• Review and update Electrical Safety Rules and Electrical Approved Procedures following agreed plans.
• Lead investigations into electrical safety related incidents and implement necessary actions to prevent recurrence.
• Apply industry‑wide electrical safety learning to update and improve Asset Standards.

Base location: This is a hybrid role based at either Hampton Coal Wharf- TW12 2ES, Beckton STW- IG11 0AD or Clear Water Court- RG1 8DB. You must attend the office and sites as needed for the role and business.

Working pattern or hours: 36 hours a week, Monday to Friday.

Requirements for the role:

• Must have a valid UK driving license.

What you should bring to the role:

• Extensive electrical safety experience in high‑ and low‑voltage systems and experience in the water industry.
• Strong background in electrical assessment and authorisation processes.
• Previous experience as a Senior Authorised Person on complex HV systems.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders and maintain focus under operational pressure.
• Degree level or equivalent with professional chartership likely in their Engineering Discipline.
• Proven competence in incident investigation with the ability to establish root causes and produce targeted improvement plans to prevent recurrence.
• Knowledge of electrical engineering design and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to assess changes to regulations and their impact on Thames Water.
