We’re looking for a Technical Consultant to join our team in a brand-new and exciting position that sits at the heart of how we deliver safe, high-quality engineering outcomes. In this role, you’ll act as a key guardian of technical integrity across projects — identifying, assessing, and managing risks while ensuring issues are effectively routed, resolved, and learned from. You’ll play a crucial part in strengthening governance, improving processes, and embedding a culture of technical excellence and regulatory compliance across the organisation. What you’ll be doing as a Technical Consultant:
- Lead the identification and management of technical risks across projects
- Coordinate teams to ensure clear ownership and timely resolution
- Ensure compliance with engineering standards and regulations
- Track mitigation actions and escalate key risks where needed
- Produce insights and reports to highlight trends and improvements
- Drive continuous improvement to enhance safety, quality, and performance
Location: Hybrid – Thames Water sites (Reading RG2 0RP to Mogden TW7 7LW)
Hours: 36 per week (Monday–Friday)
Salary: Up to £55,000 (dependent on experience)
What should you bring to the role?
Essential:
- Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline
- Significant experience in a design or technical engineering role
- Understanding of construction or operational environments
- Strong IT skills and data handling capability
- Knowledge of CDM Regulations
- Excellent technical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Commercial awareness with an understanding of engineering contracts
- A collaborative team player who thrives in a fast-paced project environment
- Self-motivated, resilient, and driven to deliver results to time, cost, and quality
