About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join our team at Thames Water to help develop and modernise our Water and Wastewater Treatment Works.
What you’ll be doing
- Providing commercial advice on Major Capital Projects across our operational sites in London and the Thames Valley.
- Managing projects from inception to completion.
- Attending sites to meet contractors and monitor progress.
- Carrying out tendering analysis and evaluations.
- Assessing variations and negotiating.
- Final accounting of projects.
- Supporting the dispute resolution process and providing advice on contractual claims.
- Managing the assessment and certification of monthly Applications for Payments (AFP).
Location and hours
This is a hybrid role with a flexible base across our Thames Valley sites. 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Remuneration
£43,005 to £58,000 per annum, depending on experience.
Essential criteria
- BSc, HND or equivalent in Quantity Surveying or a construction‑related subject.
- Experience managing operational contracts (large‑scale or a portfolio).
- Strong technical understanding of commercial and contract management.
- Negotiation and dispute resolution experience.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Full, valid UK driving licence and own transport.
- Strong MS Office skills, organised and deadline‑oriented.
Additional skills and experience that would be great to have
- Previous water or utilities experience.
- Ideally Chartered RICS – support is available to achieve this.
