We have a great opportunity for a Metering Network Electrical Technician to join our clean water team. As the successful candidate, you will play a vital role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our district and zonal metering systems in the London area. You’ll take ownership of the maintenance and repair of critical pressure points, using your technical expertise and diagnostic skills to keep our reporting systems operating at their best. What you’ll be doing as the Metering Network Electrical Technician:

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on metering equipment and pressure points.
  • Use advanced planning and technical systems to diagnose faults and underground failures.
  • Make impactful technical decisions, considering both the network and our valued customers.
  • Work alongside skilled field teams and control centres to tackle complex flow and pressure challenges.
  • Maintain vital equipment stocks to ensure seamless customer service.

Base Location: Coppermills - East London - E17 7HE

Working Pattern: 38 Hours Monday- Friday 7:30 am – 3:30 pm plus Standby rota payments & Overtime opportunities can increase your earning potential upon completion of essential company training.

Due to the nature of this role, you must hold a full UK driver's licence.

What you should bring to the role:

  • A time served apprentice with significant experience of electrical systems working in a “true multi-skilled” capacity.
  • Previous experience in an electrical apprenticeship, ONC/HNC in engineering, NVQ, BTEC or C&G level 3 in electrical/electronic engineering is crucial.
  • We are looking for someone who has completed a craft apprenticeship, has electrical instrumentation experience and ideally should be at least City and Guilds or equivalent qualified in this area.
  • Previous experience in a similar role will be highly advantageous.
  • Previous experience within the electrical trade would be highly advantageous, in particular with any instrument programming knowledge.
  • You will be driven, self-motivated and with excellent organisational skills and must have a strong awareness of compliance and health and safety.
  • Working with SCADA systems and programming of equipment is required, as is the ability to learn bespoke packages.
  • You will have demonstrable experience of being reliable, trustworthy and hard working with a proactive approach to your daily tasks.
  • You will be confident communicating with internal colleagues as well as the general public.
  • A full and clean UK driving licence is essential.
  • Due to the nature of the role, ideally with knowledge of the Road Traffic Management Act (NRSWA), although full training regarding this can be provided.
