We have an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Technician to join our Maintenance team at our Mill Green STW. As the successful candidate, your role will be to ensure that all equipment at our waste treatment works is safe to use and running efficiently, using proactive and reactive maintenance methods to assist in keeping such a site running.

What you'll be doing as the Mechanical Technician:

  • Investigate plant failures and perform repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process. This may involve investigating and diagnosing complex faults and performing repairs during incidents.
  • Provide technical advice, refer to up-to-date technical knowledge, and provide training or support for technical trainees if required.
  • Work on equipment including motors, gearboxes, screw/chains conveyors & centrifuges, various pumps, and associated control gear, 3-phase motors, starters, automatic valves, flow, level and pressure measurement, programmable, chemical handling, and dosing equipment.
  • Complete statutory checks as required.
  • Always work safely and comply with all Health and Safety guidance and procedures.

Base Location: Mill Green STW AL9 5PE

Working Pattern: 38 hours per week, Monday - Friday 7:30am - 3:36pm, plus standby & overtime opportunity, increasing earnings by a potential £8,000 - £10,000 upon completion of essential company training.

Equipment: All PPE, tools, plus the provision of a Van when on duty and on call.

What you should bring to the role:

  • ONC/HNC in engineering, NVQ, or C&G level 3 in mechanical engineering qualification in Mechanical Engineering is crucial.
  • Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues are crucial.
  • The work will require physical fitness, as you will work in confined spaces with the successful completion of the appropriate training.
  • A valid driving licence is essential, and all necessary equipment, such as the vehicle and tools, is provided.
