We're looking for a Lifting Inspector to join our Engineering Functions team, carrying out statutory lifting equipment inspections across a wide range of operational and engineering assets.
What you'll be doing as a Lifting Inspector:
- Safely and competently complete lifting equipment inspections in line with LOLER regulations.
- Carry out statutory inspections of lifting equipment and accessories across assigned geographic areas and asset groups.
- Complete inspections safely, compliantly, and in line with agreed schedules and company procedures.
- Apply LOLER 1998, PUWER 1998, and relevant industry standards during all inspection activities.
- Record inspection findings, defects, and certification details accurately within inspection databases and reporting systems.
- Identify unsafe, defective, or non-compliant equipment and take appropriate action, including reporting, isolation, or escalation.
- Manage your own inspection workload, planning daily activities and site visits effectively.
- Communicate professionally with operational teams, engineering colleagues, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Escalate risks, access issues, or operational concerns appropriately through the Lifting Inspection Team Supervisor.
- Maintain technical competence through ongoing training, audits, and competency reviews.
Base location: Hybrid - Beckton (STW), with daily travel to other sites as required.
Working pattern: 38 Hours, Monday to Friday.
What you should bring to the role:
- Level 2 or above engineering qualification (BTEC, NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent).
- Full UK driving licence.
- Experience carrying out statutory lifting equipment inspections.
- Strong knowledge of LOLER 1998, PUWER 1998, and associated industry standards.
- Relevant LEEA qualifications covering lifting equipment and accessories.
- Ability to work independently, manage workload, and prioritise inspections across multiple sites.
- Experience recording inspection findings, using inspection databases and reporting systems.
- Strong safety awareness, attention to detail, and professional judgement.
Desirable:
- Experience working across geographically dispersed operational or industrial sites.
- Knowledge of the water, utilities, or wider industrial sector.
- Familiarity with inspection audits and quality assurance processes.
- Additional safety or access-related training, such as IOSH, Working at Height, or MEWP.
