Ready to kick-start your future in engineering? Join us as an Electrical Engineering Apprentice to gain hands-on experience with the UK’s largest water and wastewater provider. Work alongside our skilled engineers in electrical design while earning a Level 6 qualification in Engineering.

What you’ll be doing as an Electrical Engineering Apprentice:

  • Define and capture the technical requirements for Project Definition Briefs.
  • Ensure engineering work meets regulatory compliance for relevant electrical assets.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the engineering and environmental aspects of plant design and delivery.
  • Contribute to risk identification, investigation, and mitigation efforts.
  • Collaborate within the Electrical discipline teams to support Thames Water in achieving its Asset Management Planning (AMP8) goals through 2030 and beyond.
  • Learn on the job and through targeted training, with guidance and support from experienced senior engineers.

Where you’ll work:

  • Location: Hampton TW12 2ES
  • Hours: 36-hour week over four working days plus one training day
  • Start date: September 2026

Training and qualification:

  • You’ll study with Newbury University, one of the UK’s leading engineering training providers. Your program includes one day per week on campus, combining hands-on learning with expert-led instruction.
  • Qualification achieved: Level 6 Apprenticeship Standard in Product Design Development in Engineering - HNC/HND & BSc (Hons) or BEng (Hons) in Engineering
  • Duration: Permanent contract with a 48 month structured programme

What you should bring to the role:

  • 5 GCSEs including Maths and English (grade 9-4 / A-C)
  • 3 A Levels (grades A-C / 9-4), including a technical or engineering subject
  • Travel required to Thames Water sites
  • Good time management and communication skills
  • Able to work well in a team and independently
