Exciting Opportunity: Environment and Sustainability Assurance Specialist at Thames Water
Join us on our mission to shape a sustainable future for generations to come. Thames Water is looking for an Environment and Sustainability Assurance Specialist to help ensure our Capital Delivery projects not only meet but exceed environmental standards and commitments.
What you’ll be doing as an Environment and Sustainability Assurance Specialist
- Promoting the continuous improvement of the environmental/sustainability performance of all projects.
- Being familiar with and effectively communicating the requirements of current applicable environmental legislation and best practices.
- Represent the Environmental team as the lead for multiple projects. This will include attending site visits and meetings with the project team, reviewing deliverables, and conducting audits when a project reaches the construction phase.
- Thinking innovatively and working with the Project Engineering team to identify areas where processes can be improved.
- Aiding all project personnel to enable them to manage their carbon and sustainability duties and responsibilities.
- Assisting the Environmental team in various internal and external meetings, workshops, management reviews and forums.
- Raising awareness and understanding of carbon and sustainability targets throughout Capital Delivery.
Based in Hybrid, Clearwater Court – Reading, you will be required to be on-site and in the office as part of your role for 2-3 days a week.
36 hours a week, Monday to Friday, offering a salary of between £42,000 and £48,000 per annum.
This role does require a driver\’s licence and access to a car.
Essential criteria to help you succeed in this role are:
- Be educated to a degree or equivalent in environmental/sustainability or something similar.
- To have an interest in project delivery and a passion for protecting and enhancing the environment.
- Take a proactive approach and be able to adapt to changing scenarios to solve problems and maintain Thames Water standards.
- This role does require a driver\’s licence and access to a car.
Additional skills and experiences would be great to have/bring:
- Previous experience in the Utility industry is preferable.
- Have a proactive approach and an eagerness for learning.
