You will be at the forefront of ensuring operational compliance with our EMS and permits, and you will be required to take ownership and development of a site permit compliance audit programme across the Thames Water region. You will also be required to provide support to operational teams to ensure they understand the requirements of the EMS and site permits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a site compliance audit programme , including the creation of audit templates, forms, action tracking mechanisms, and reporting processes.
- Lead the execution of the audit programme , conducting audits personally and coordinating a team of auditors to ensure thorough and timely delivery.
- Identify and address non-compliance issues , ensuring actions are tracked to completion through the Environmental Management System (EMS).
- Provide regular progress reports , highlighting key findings, trends, and areas of risk or concern to relevant stakeholders.
- Maintain and update site compliance status using the Compliance Assessment System.
- Build and lead a team of site auditors to support and deliver the audit programme effectively.
- Design and implement a process for creating and maintaining site environmental risk assessments , ensuring alignment with best practices and regulatory requirements.
Base location: This is a hybrid role and the base location will be at one of our sites depending on the location of the successful candidate eg. (Clearwater Court β RG1 8DB, Hybrid β Maple Lodge (STW) β WD3 9SQ, Hybrid β Oxford STW β OX4 4YU, Hybrid β Reading (STW) β RG2 0RP, Hybrid β Swindon (STW)
Working pattern or hours: 36 hours, Mon-Fri
What you should bring to the role
- Proven experience in developing and implementing site audit programmes.
- A strong background in conducting environmental site audits.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships across teams.
- Strong communication and influencing abilities to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience working within Environmental and Quality Management Systems.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with experience in team coordination or management.
- Knowledge of environmental legislation and permit requirements.
- Awareness of Health and Safety requirements within operational environments.
- A qualification in an environmental or science-related discipline.
- Experience working directly with or within front-line operational teams, such as Sewage Treatment Works or Pumping Stations. (desirable)
- Familiarity with ISO-accredited management systems. (desirable)
