Salary: Offering up to £39,000 per annum depending on your level of experience plus standby rota payments & overtime opportunities can increase this earning potential by up to a further £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training.

We have an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Technician to join our Maintenance team at our Beckton Sewage Treatment Works (STW). As the successful candidate, your role will be to ensure that all equipment at our waste treatment works is safe to use and running efficiently using proactive and reactive maintenance methods.

What you'll be doing as the Mechanical Technician:

  • Investigate plant failures and perform repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process.
  • Provide technical advice, refer to up-to-date technical knowledge, and provide training or support for technical trainees if required.
  • Work on equipment including motors, gearboxes, screw/chain conveyors, centrifuges, various pumps, and associated control gear.
  • Complete statutory checks as required.
  • Always work safely and comply with all Health and Safety guidance and procedures.

Base Location: Beckton STW

Working Pattern: 38 Hours Monday - Friday 7:30 am - 3:36 pm. Plus standby & overtime opportunity, increasing earnings by a potential £8,000 - £10,000 upon completion of essential company training.

Equipment: All PPE and tools are provided.

What you should bring to the role:

  • ONC/HNC in engineering, NVQ, or C&G level 3 in mechanical engineering qualification in Mechanical Engineering is crucial.
  • Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues are crucial.
  • The work will require physical fitness, as you will work in confined spaces with the successful completion of the appropriate training.
  • A valid driving licence is essential, and all necessary equipment, such as the vehicle and tools, is provided.
