We are looking for an enthusiastic Summer Ranger to support our visitor facilities throughout the busy summer season. You will be the welcoming face of Thames Water for anglers, birdwatchers and other recreational users, helping to deliver safe, enjoyable and well-managed sites while promoting conservation, education and access.
This is a varied, hands-on role combining visitor engagement, outdoor work and practical site management - ideal for someone who enjoys working outside and engaging with the public.
What you’ll be doing:
- Operating visitor facilities on a rota, including permit sales, shop sales, visitor management and behaviour enforcement
- Acting as a positive ambassador for Thames Water, ensuring visitors have a great experience
- Supporting conservation, fishery and wider site development activities
- Assisting with events and educational visits
- Maintaining visitor facilities such as signage, paths, hides, car parks, toilets, boats and hired equipment
- Supporting fish stocking programmes and helping manage fish cages, feed and equipment
- Carrying out health and safety inspections and ensuring safe public access
- Monitoring and recording performance data, including visitor numbers, income, feedback and wildlife sightings
- Working closely with operational teams and external recreational user groups
What we’re looking for:
- At least six months experience in ranger work, visitor/recreation site management, fishery management or wildlife site work, or a relevant qualification
- A genuine enthusiasm for outdoor recreation, conservation and customer experience
- Strong interpersonal skills and confidence engaging with the public
- A collaborative, team-focused approach
- Basic numeracy and written skills for reporting and performance monitoring
- Comfortable using Microsoft Word, Excel, email and the internet
- Physically fit and happy to undertake manual work outdoors in all weather
- A full UK driving licence
Desirable: Boat handling experience (e.g. RYA Powerboat Level 2)

Please note you will be on assignment at Thames Water via Pertemps. This role involves outdoor, physical work and shift patterns. You’ll be expected to follow Thames Water health & safety policies and wear uniform and PPE as required.
