Salary: Offering up to 60,000 per annum, depending on experience and skills, plus 4,500 car allowance.
This role suits someone who enjoys taking ownership, solving problems and working collaboratively. You will lead engineering projects from start to finish across Thames Water's operational sites and estate, with the support of a knowledgeable and welcoming team.
Your work will help ensure essential assets return to service (RTS) or Return to Operation (RTO) safely, efficiently and in line with our Asset Integrity standards, helping us keep water services reliable for the communities we serve.
You will also play a key role in reducing disruption and inefficiencies by gathering meaningful data such as cost of failure, RTS/RTO timelines and lessons learned to support smart planning, confident decision-making and long-term improvements.
What you will be doing as an Engineering Project Manager:
- Manage and deliver a portfolio of Mechanical, Electrical and ICA projects, with typical values of 15,000 per project.
- Lead multiple live projects at once while progressing additional projects through scoping and tendering.
- Work with innovative and modern solutions to support site efficiency and deliver value for money for customers.
- Collaborate closely with operational colleagues and contractors to scope, define and cost safe, practical and cost-effective solutions.
- Uphold our zero-compromise approach to health and safety, including monthly audits.
- Oversee construction activities in accordance with Thames Water policies, industry standards and CDM regulations.
- Partner with delivery teams and contractors to ensure projects are completed on time.
- Maintain compliance with Asset Standards, British & International Standards and professional codes of conduct.
- Complete financial forecasting and report on the value of work done (VOWD).
- Prepare, review and approve project documentation including PCI, programmes, RAMS and CPPs.
- Oversee commissioning, training and handover of completed projects to operational teams.
- Ensure all completion documents (e.g., test certificates, O&M manuals, H&S files and as-constructed drawings) are delivered and recorded.
Location: Your base location will be Earlswood Sewage Treatment Works and will be on-site up to 5 days a week. This role requires travel to multiple sites, depending on your project portfolio. A full driving licence is required.
What you should bring to the role:
- A background in Engineering, such as Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering.
- Formal qualifications (e.g., BTEC/HND) are encouraged, but relevant experience is equally valued.
- Alternatively, knowledge of clean water processing or wastewater treatment.
- Confidence coordinating with multiple stakeholders, including colleagues, site teams and contractors.
- The ability to work independently when needed, while contributing positively to a supportive team culture.
- An understanding of health and safety standards, especially relating to construction and CDM (training will be provided).
- Experience in construction or engineering project management.
