Salary: Competitive salary up to £42,000 per annum depending on your level of experience, plus Standby rota payments & Overtime opportunities can increase the earning potential by up to a further £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training.
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Electrical Technician to join our Maintenance team in our Wastewater Division to be based out of our Earlswood - Redhill Site.
As a successful candidate, you will use your electrical knowledge as well as your experience to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair as appropriate, mechanical plant and associated electrical equipment, in a safe efficient timely and effective manner with minimum supervision allowing us to ensure that all of our sites remain operational for the benefits of our customers. This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference to Thames Water's environmental impact, and you will be actively helping to reduce pollution from our sites.
What you’ll be doing as the Electrical Technician:
- Investigate plant failures and carry out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process. This may involve investigating and diagnosing complex faults and carrying out repairs during incidents.
- Provide technical advice, refer to up-to-date technical knowledge, and provide training or support for technical trainees.
- Examples of equipment that you will be working on will be motors, gearboxes, screw /chain conveyors & centrifuges, various pumps and associated control gear, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems such as VSD, automatic valves, flow, level and pressure measurement, programmable logic controllers, variable speed drives and controls, chemical handling and dosing equipment.
Base Location - Earlswood - Redhill - RH1 5HE.
Working Pattern - 38 hours per week, Monday-Friday 07:30 am - 3:36 pm, plus the inclusion on a standby rota for which you will receive additional Payment. All PPE, Tools, plus a van will be provided.
What you should bring to the role:
- You should be a time-served apprentice with significant experience in mechanical/electrical systems or with NVQ or C&G level 3 in electrical engineering.
- 18th Edition preferred, but training can be given.
- A problem solver, able to identify potential issues and implement solutions, or escalate if required.
- An excellent communicator, providing technical expertise to Internal and External staff and contractors.
- Resilient, adapting to the pressures of work and working in a constantly changing environment.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision, under own initiative to design and standards.
- Knowledge and awareness of Health and Safety issues relevant to the industry.
- Team player who can work in many different teams, showing respect for others, providing helpful feedback and supporting the development of others.
- Full UK driving licence.
