We are currently hiring for a Senior Engineer to join our Water Production department. The role will be based at Thames Gateway Water Treatment Works desalination plant in East London, an integral plant in building resilience to London's water supply.

The processes on-site include, but are not limited to: Clarification, Filtration, Ultrafiltration, Reverse Osmosis, Hardening and Disinfection.

The individual successful in the role will be embedded into the site operation team, working alongside the site team, optimising the process and providing technical support.

What you'll be doing as a Senior Engineer:

  • Assessment of technical information and development of solutions, through the preparation of engineering deliverables such as reports, drawings, specifications and data sheets.
  • Lead the delivery of a range of projects required for process optimisation, asset reliability and improvement.
  • Liaise regularly with internal and external parties, including Thames Waters regulators, to ensure project objectives are met, and best-value solutions are achieved.
  • Proactively analyse and address project risks to minimise both programme and project delivery costs.
  • Check and review of team outputs, assuring compliance with our Scope Objectives, Asset Standards, Legislation, Construction Design Management Regulations and Health, Safety, and Welfare.
  • Oversee the activities of multi-disciplinary project teams on site, ensuring adherence to project delivery procedures.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to the team, support development and learning, fostering a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and excellence.

Base location: Thames Gateway - Essex - IG11 0AD

Working pattern or hours: 36 Hours per week (Monday to Friday)

What should you bring to the role?

To thrive in this role, the essential criteria you'll need are:

  • Educated to degree level in Engineering or equivalent, or has relevant work experience.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to water treatment facilities, and previous experience with reverse osmosis operation and/or designing, is required.
  • Understanding the principles of project delivery in process industries.
  • Understanding of Health & Safety in the Construction industry.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex data and draw actionable conclusions.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Commercially astute, with financial awareness.
  • Fully competent at using the appropriate company IT Systems and Office Software.
  • Hold a full UK driving Licence and have your own transport.

Additional skills and experiences would be great to have/bring:

  • Experience in evaluating, optimising, and improving industrial processes to achieve operational excellence is an advantage.
